Entyvio

What is Entyvio?

Entyvio (vedolizumab) is a prescription medication used to treat people suffering from moderate-to-severe Crohn’s Disease (CD) or ulcerative colitis (UC). It is usually prescribed when other medications have failed to effectively manage a patient’s symptoms, and can help reduce symptoms or achieve remission.

How does Entyvio work?

Entyvio is a monoclonal antibody that targets and blocks a specific type of T-cell (immune system cell) from entering the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, thus limiting its ability to cause the damaging inflammation to the colon that defines ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s Disease. It is administered by intravenous (IV) infusion in a doctor’s office.
